FAQ

  • What is glass fusing?

Glass fusing is the process of bonding pieces of glass together in a kiln. If you apply heat to glass, the glass will soften and with more applied heat will become more fluid and the pieces will bond, or fuse, together.  Once the glass is bonded and cooled down properly the fused glass piece will be a solid piece of glass.

  • What is glass slumping?

Glass Slumping is the process of slumping glass that has already been fused into, or draped over, a mold.  The glass takes on the shape of the mold during the slumping process.

  • What doe COE stand for?

COE stands for coefficient of expansion, which is the rate at which a material expands when heated.  So, COE90 expands at a different rate than COE96.  This is one property of glass that determines the compatibility of the glass.

  • Is fused glass delicate and breakable?

Fused glass is breakable, however it is thicker and stronger than a normal sheet of glass, making it harder to break.

  • How much do you charge for shipping?

The cost of shipping will depend on the item and where it is being shipped to.  Once an oder if placed, I will provide a shipping estimate to you.  If you have a preference in how the order is shipped, we can work out the details after the order is placed.

  • How do I place a custom order?

If you would like to place an custom order, please email me with the details.  We can work together to create the perfect piece or I can draw up some ideas and send them your way.

There are several websites that sell slumping molds and if you find one that you love, email me to see if I have it.  If I don’t, I am more than happy to purchase the mold in order to create a custom piece for you.  I primarily work with COE 96 glass, but I am happy to work with COE 90 glass if that is what you would prefer.

Once we have worked out the details of what the custom piece will look like I will provide a quote for the piece.  Once the price is set, I will begin working on your one of a kind creation.
